Jonathan P. Howe is a trusted executive leader with more than two decades of experience in strategic planning, communications, and organizational leadership across the Southern Baptist Convention and broader ministry landscape. Known for his collaborative leadership style and mission-driven mindset, Jonathan has guided organizations through seasons of growth, transition, and transformation—always with a focus on strengthening the local church and amplifying Gospel impact.
He currently serves as Vice President for Convention Administration for the SBC Executive Committee, where he oversees the planning, marketing, and execution of the SBC Annual Meeting, one of the largest faith-based gatherings in the nation. Under his leadership, the meeting has seen record exhibitor engagement, expanded sponsorship opportunities, and more than $2.6 million in annual generated revenue—reinforcing the event’s strategic and missional value for Southern Baptists.
During a critical season of transition, Jonathan was appointed Interim President & CEO of the SBC Executive Committee. In that role, he provided steady leadership, driving operational efficiencies that reduced annual spending by more than $1 million, realigning a budget and personnel with the ministry assignments given to the EC by the SBC. He also served as the Convention’s fiduciary agent, managing legal, financial, and property matters while fostering collaboration across denominational partners and ministry entities.
From 2019–2023, Jonathan served as Vice President for Communications, directing the SBC Executive Committee’s comprehensive communications strategy. He led rebranding efforts for the SBC, Baptist Press, SBC Life, and the Cooperative Program, while overseeing all editorial, content, and media initiatives. His strategic vision led to double-digit growth in digital traffic and a more than 200% increase in external marketing revenue.
Prior to joining the SBC Executive Committee, Jonathan spent nearly a decade at Lifeway Christian Resources as Director of Strategic Initiatives, where he strengthened denominational relationships, launched high-impact digital content strategies, advised pastors and churches nationwide, and hosted several nationally recognized podcasts featuring key SBC leaders.
Earlier in his career, he directed marketing and trade book publishing strategy for New Hope Publishers at the Woman’s Missionary Union.
Jonathan holds a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Criswell College, as well as a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
A visionary strategist with a pastor’s heart, Jonathan is committed to servant leadership, faithful stewardship, and equipping churches, ministries, and leaders to thrive.
